lots of things lots of things, too many things to talk about really. I've had lots of firsts. I did my first bit of teaching this week, running seminars for one of our undergraduate courses. But I can't think of what to say about it all really, or my life in general, as I just read and write too much work-wise to write anything of interest on a livejournal level. If I try I'll just start inserting essay speak and being even more pretentious than I actually am.

So instead, here's a picture of my great-grandfather (or great-great uncle - I can't remember which!!) with Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle and President Roosevelt.

a relative of yours hung out with Churchill, de Gaulle and Roosevelt and you can't remember which relative it is!
If that was my ancestor I'd be writing books about him!

um, no it's not a joke, but I only looked him up on Wikipedia yesterday after my brother told me! He was all, you know he's really famous, but de Gaulle downplayed his role? And I said that I didn't know that and was a bit embarrassed.

Dad tried to tell me about him when we were little (we've got a photo of him at home, a really wonderful old type of photograph) but at the time I was too little to understand and didn't listen properly :( I feel bad in hindsight!! Kids are rubbish.

But, yeah, there's already a book about him I think (it's referenced on Wikipedia anyway.

Pretty sure he's my great uncle.

no worries :) I'm always running around manicly - either late for something or stressed! I'm busy too, trying to sort teaching out and a chapter at the same time, erk! It's all good though, I'm a happy busy bunny.
